This technique is called mouth extremes. I like to think of it as a compass rose. So we’ve got north and south and then we’ve got east and west and then of course, there are some diagonals that are also available.
Here’s the good news. It doesn’t really matter exactly which angle that you’re going to. And as you know, we are all different.
So what works for me is gonna be different than what works for you just like in the world of yoga, you are actually your own best teacher.
So use this video as a quick inspiration and then have a little fun looking in the mirror and getting to know your own mouth.
I found it fascinating that I was really good at doing this and not so good at doing that. I still need some work there. So it’s fun.

So throughout this method, we do 20 repetitions followed by holding. So I’m gonna start with going up and in the videos, I’m doing 10 so that you don’t get bored. So here we go.
So that was 10 up with a hold. Now we’re gonna go to the left. Good relax, stretch it out, going to the right.
So take your time. Get creative. Look at what you see in the mirror and strengthen your mouth.
If you’ve ever had any issues in your jaw, such as TMJ syndrome that stands for temporal mandibular joint, it’s basically just pain in the jaw can come from anxiety that is often associated with insomnia, like grinding your teeth at night can also just be the way you are.
So don’t think of it as a bad thing but trying to open up and create space in your face. So yes, there are wonderful benefits to toning and
strengthening and activating your actual mouth.
What we can see from the outside. There’s a whole another layer of tissue, many layers on the inside that benefit from these movements.
Because when you’re moving your chin side to side, this is called your mandible and it connects right near your ear. This area when it’s tense or out of alignment can create migraines and create pain down the neck.
So just start getting to know how does your jaw feel. Can you stretch it really wide, stick out your bottom teeth like you have an under bite?
I always feel like a bulldog. I know. It looks really silly.
I’m clearly not embarrassed but get in front of the mirror. Have some fun.
Feel the pressure that’s released and always finish up with a nice jaw massage.
