Chakras Demystified

Spinal Energy “Chakras Demystified” (Seven Major Emotional Centers)
This "Chakras Demystified" video briefly describes the seven major emotional centers called Chakras (the Sanskrit word for "wheel"). Certain yoga postures have specific effects on certain Chakras, and can be used to foster balance and wholeness. Improving the overall alignment of these wheels will enhance the relationship between your emotional and physical bodies.

Hi, I’m Yogi Kate. I’d like to give you a quick rundown on what your seven chakras are. Chakra is a Sanskrit word and it means wheel of energy. They are your seven major emotional centers. The first one, your root chakra, is down at the pelvic floor and it represents your connection to the earth.

And then you have your sexual center, which represents passion, procreation. Moving upward to the solar plexus, you have your personal power chakra. I always think of Tarzan pounding his chest in the jungle, his personal power.

Moving upward, we go to love, love for yourself and others. And then into the throat is communication, how you express yourself to the world. Into the third eye, intuition and creativity. This is aligned with your pituitary gland.

The seventh chakra is actually above your head. If you look at Christian art, you see the halo above the heads of the angels. And in the science and study of yoga, you learn about your crown chakra as the connection to the divine force in your life.

So whatever that may be. One reason to practice yoga, besides feeling good, looking good, living long, is to align your chakras. When you have good alignment naturally, all of those parts of your life start to come into alignment.

And if you think about it from the ground up, it starts out with like the earth and procreation and animalistic like tendencies, and then it moves up into personal power, love, and becomes a much more evolved journey.

So this is the evolution of the soul from the bottom up. It gets kind of deep, but it’s fun. You can read about this in books, and even if you have no interest in it, by practicing the postures, you’re going to get the benefits.
