Yogi Kait: Eye Opener

Vibrant and youthful appearance lies in the art of facial exercise. Beauty resides within the delicate muscles encircling the eyes, and that is why we have this "eye opener."

Happy is the real pretty. This technique is called the eye opener. I like to think of it as weight lifting for your eye sockets. So there’s a muscle that goes all the way around your eye. It’s a circle.

So think about it contracting inward and softening around. This is going to take practice. We’re actually doing what’s called spot toning, where we’re trying to isolate a tiny muscle and teach it to work.

So when you first begin these techniques, you have to be patient with yourself. The first time you do anything, it usually does not come out perfect. In fact, when I first started, all I could get was a little twitch.

And now I can contract that muscle with control and count out 20 reps and then do the hold at the end. So let me explain what that means. When you’re lifting weights, hypothetically your bicep, you’re doing a curl.

So that’s your contraction. At the end, if I hold the curl as if I wanted to break a pencil in the crease of my elbow, my bicep has now contracted and been held tight. So now bring that into your eyes.

These muscles are no different than the muscles from the neck down. So learning how to spot tone your face, you have to tune into the small places. So we all know this is an area where aging and wear and tear and fatigue can start to show up.

So learning how to lift it is going to make you look younger, look more awake, and just have more overall vitality. Highly recommend using the mirror. You’re going to use your peace fingers. The middle fingertip is going to go just on the inside of your eyebrow.

Your pointer finger is going to go on the outside of your eye socket. You’re not trying to stretch the skin or pull down. You’re just trying to prevent this, which I like to call the vertical clamp, and you’re also trying to prevent these, the horizontal lines.

So relax your forehead. You can even do some tapping or gentle massage. Always keep your jaw soft. Ugh. Take your peace fingers. Find a mirror. middle finger, pointer. I’m only gonna do 10 reps because the video would be long and boring if I did all 20.

So relax your jaw, I won’t be talking, so just look closely under my eye. Thank you. And now I’m holding it. It looks like I’m squinting because that’s what that muscle does. So that is called the eye opener.

Once you get good at it, you might not even need these as they are simply preventing other things from wrinkling. There’s a word called differentiation that is fundamental to this method. Basically it means I can do this without doing that.

I can do this without doing that. So you’re separating the individual movements of the muscles of your face. Remember to be patient. Remember that a little bit of energy and putting your time into it daily makes a huge difference.

Don’t give up. If you don’t have your gadgets, it doesn’t matter. Your fingertips are the best tools ever. Good luck and keep practicing every day.
